Bob Dylan called me this past Tuesday, by way of his manager in New York, Jeff Rosen. It was great to hear his voice, for so many reasons. I congratulated him from my heart. I then asked whether he wants to accept the Nobel Prize. ”Of course,” he said, adding that the news had left him ”speechless” and that he didn’t know what to say. We talked for about fifteen minutes. He was friendly and humble, and had a great sense of humor. I assured him that we’ll do everything we can to adapt his visit to Stockholm in December to his wishes, should he decide to come. Whatever transpires, the Nobel Prize in Literature belongs to him.
